Fact About Pests

Facts about Mosquitoes:

After the female mosquito obtains a blood meal (male mosquitoes do not bite), she lays her eggs directly on the surface of stagnant water, even a very small water source is sufficient for this purpose. The full lifecycle is completed within one week.

Mosquitoes are attracted by prespiration, warmth, body odor, exhaled carbon dioxide and light.

Depending on the species, mosquitoes can be active during the day or at night. Despite their deceivingly frail appreance they are able to fly a few kilometeres.

When drawing the blood, an anticoagulant is the cause for the red spot and itch. Problems caused by Mosquitoes

Being vector for numerous diseases and parasites, mosquitoes are causing more human suffering than any other animal. They are estimated to transmit diseases to over 700 million people annually.

Among the many diseases that are spread by mosquitoes are : Malaria, Dengue, Japanese B Encephalitis, Yellow Fever and Lymphatic filariasis.

Implications of Problems

First of all, if there is a heavy infestation of mosquitoes, apart from the potential diseases that might be transmitted through bites. it creates a nuisance and extreme discomfort to everybody in that area.

Mosquitoes are transmitters of deadly diseases. Therefore a proper pest management is required. If left untreated the presence of mosquitoes can translate into a threat for human health and wellbeing.

Facts about Cockroaches:

There are two main pest types in building that are the American Cockroach (Peripatetic Americana); the German Cockroach (Blatella Germanica).

Fossil evidence shows that cockroaches have existed almost unchanged for more than 250 million years. They adaptability makes them increasingly resistant to conventional pesticides.

An egg capsule can produce up to 42 cockroaches. Fiven ideal conditions, a pair of cockroaches can give rise to as many as 20,000 offspring in one year.

Problems caused by Cockroaches

Due to their close association with filth (feeding and breeding in highly unsanitary environments like sewers, garbage dumps and drains) and their indiscriminate wandering in premises, they are capable of spreading diseases. thus, they contaminate any food and area they get in contact with.

Among the many diseases that are spread by cockroaches are : Dysentery, Diptheria, Typhoid, Hepatitis, Food poisoning and Gastroenteritis.

They prefer warm and humid places; this might cause problems for sensitive electronic devices, such as PC's they are also a problem when congregating inside of coffee machines and similar devices.

Implications of Problems

Their droppings, shed skins and dead corpses pose a risk to the health of anybody who gets in contact with them. Especially cafeterias and pantries are very sensitive areas, where cockroach contamination will cause losses because of contaminated food and the resulting disposal.

The risk of diseases will increase when premises are cockroach infested.

The presence of cockroaches translates into a loss of reputation for companies, especially when sensitive areas are concerned.

The increased insecticide-resistance of cockroaches might render many control efforts useless, thus increasing the costs and damage to environment.

Many companies also retain significant clean up costs due to cockroach problems they don't resolve.

Problems caused by Rodents:

One rat equals more than 25,000 droppings per year, which contains allergens for some humans. They are also known to introduce other pests, such as lice and fleas, causing additional damage.
They are disease-carrying pests because they live and breed in highly unhygienic places e.g. sewers and garbage dumps and hence pose a threat to our health.
Diseases like Jaundice, Weil's disease, the well-known plague and the lesser-known hanta-viral infections with influenza-type symptoms are associated with rodents.
As the teeth of rodents continue to grow over their lifespan, they need to gnaw on hard substances, such as lead and plastic pipes, insulation material and electric wirings.
Rats have also been known to chew through mild steel. this habit increases the risk of short circuits and fires.

Problems caused by Termites:

Termites that live in the Ground and can eat Your house down ....
Termites are known to destroy the wall and roofing timbers of a home within 3 months of construction.
Termites cause more damage to homes than fire, floods, storms and tempest, combined.
Termites occur throughout most states of the country, with a high incidence of attack in virtually all urban areas.
They build a central colony nest from which they construct underground tunnels that radiate within a 100 yard radius from a central colony nest in search of a timber (cellulose) food source.
Termites often build such nests if moisture is allowed to regularly collects inside the wall cavity, say from leaking pipes, shower recess, faulty plumbing, guttering, broken roof tiles, etc.

Termites have acute survival instincts. If they are shaken up or disturbed, the termites often will abandon the associated area and move on to secretly cause damage in other areas in the building. If you find termites in or around your property, it is essential that you do NOT disturb them and promptly arrange for a professional inspection and application of a termite bait to the live termites, if present in abundance.
